Big Steam Locomotive Adventure: A Travel On an Old Beast

Taking that short travel I was surprised how smooth the traction of this steamer was. I don't know why, I thought that it would be more choppy while travelling with it.

A little bit of information about this steam locomotive I've found:

The Class 01 were ordered in 1931. The first three locomotives (01.01 - 01.03) were deliver by Hanomag, the ten next (01.04 - 01.13) by Fablok Chrzanow in Poland. Six machines from SLM Winterthur in Switzerland (01.18 - 01.23), and four german vehicles : two Borsig (01.14) und two Henschel (01.16). They were the largest locomotives produced in Switzerland. Fun fact there they called them "Tabaklok" because their batch was paid for their worth in tobacco. Many of their components were standardized among other BDZ classes making for easy maintenance including Class 02, Class 10 and even the mammoth Class 46 “Baba Metza”. In the 60s they were converted to oil burning and starting in the 70s they were gradually retired until the last one in 1979. Locomotive 01.23 built in Switzerland in 1935 was renovated in 1985 and again in 2004 and its currently carrying out historical journeys pulling period correct cars and extensively used for film production.
