ISRO has successfully conducted its first Integrated Air Drop Test (IADT-01) for the Gaganyaan crew module’s parachute-based recovery system at Sriharikota on August 24, 2025.
Using a five-tonne dummy module dropped from an IAF Chinook, the test validated a ten-parachute deployment sequence, ensuring safe splashdown at 8 m/s.
The multi-agency trial involved the IAF, Navy, Coast Guard, DRDO, and ISRO, including recovery drills. This milestone advances preparations for upcoming test vehicle missions and the uncrewed G1 flight, bringing India closer to its first human spaceflight.
