Intro: To be fair I did play X-Wing Alliance back in 2000 but I never beat it, maybe 2 missions before a glut of games and mods diverted my attention. After watching some Star Wars (A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi and Andor; the rest doesn't really resonate with me in any manner) I got the urge to play this to completion.

Now don't get me wrong, across the internet this game was lauded as an epic so it is far from a forgotten title (unlike Star Wars Force Commander). As a matter of fact I was pleasantly surprised that there was extensive patching to this day to add higher quality graphics and fix bugs.

My friend at the time (in 2000) would talk to me about it as we walked home from school for lunch. I recall him saying its a very long game. Again I gave it a try and it was an entertaining title but you have to understand Diablo II, Red Alert 2, Star Trek Voyager, Deus Ex just came out in 2000. Heck Counter Strike 1.0 BETA was out at the time and that was SUPER HOT for the time (5 minutes round, real weapons, small maps, objectives, etc. not to mention the other mods for Half Life 1, sven mod, the specialist, firearms mod, etc.). It was a lot of competition. Some of those titles are around in some variation or another TODAY!

Considering my ancient Logitech Joystick is showing its age I might as well also give this title its final playthrough before I throw it into the trash.
