Ruins (An Orchestral Undertale Cover)

I'd definitely recommend headphones with this one, and it gets a little loud toward the middle so watch out for that! I really pushed myself for a different style on this one so it might be a bit jarring.

So, it's been a long while. Life just gets in the way sometimes and honestly, I attempted to create quite a few different pieces of music but nothing really got me excited enough to post. This was the exception. Even though I'm not really into this game anymore, I still find the music in it really interesting to transform! Maybe it's because the simplicity of the soundtrack makes it a lot easier to have my own interpretation of it. Weirdly, this didn't start out as an Undertale related cover at all, but as I developed it it became very obvious that the "Ruins" melody would fit in really nicely so I did some tweaking and arrived here! This is probably the proudest and most "complete" I've ever felt about a piece of music and I really attempted to get my layering and progression a little bit better on this one: it's definitely not perfect and has a few goofs but overall I'm very proud of it. I promised myself that when I started this, I would keep the whole thing fairly simple and stripped back, more along the lines of my Before the Story cover, but then I wrote a string section that I absolutely loved and it only felt right to pair that with a big "rock" (used very loosely) section toward the end of the track. Then I had some technical issues which stopped progress for a while. I still struggled to write a drum line, as I usually try to avoid them, but I hope that it doesn't sound too bad? I hope you all love this one as much as I do, it's been a long time in the making and I honestly never thought I'd finish it or be this happy with it when I did.
