I shattered the rear window in my 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 and instead of paying a shop, I replaced the back glass myself. In this video I show exactly how to remove the broken rear window, clean up the glass, repair the scratches, prep the frame, and install a brand-new back glass on a 2nd gen Dodge Ram.
If your Ram 1500 back glass is cracked, shattered, leaking, or completely blown out, this is a full DIY rear window replacement tutorial. I cover removing the old cab glass, cleaning the urethane, installing the new gasket, and fitting the new rear window step-by-step.
Overall, I have about $300 into materials and probably 3 hours worth of work. With comprehensive coverage, this would have cost me $0 out of pocket but I didn't like the style of rear glass that shops were wanting to use. Basically a tiny hole in the center of the rear glass. I wanted the larger opening like OEM. Anyway, It's not a hard job but it is definitely demanding on the body, that's for certain.
