In this video, we'll dispel some of the crazy generalizations people make about Oklahoma--and Oklahomans-- that may be causing you to rethink your possible move to Oklahoma. We'll deal head-on with 10 of the most outrageous misconceptions people still have about Oklahoma, destroying many of the long-held stereotypes that stubbornly persist about living in the Sooner State. Some of these are laughable but, believe it or not, there are people across the U.S. that still believe some of them. So in this video, we will be debunking the following myths...

1) Everybody in Oklahoma drives a pickup truck - FALSE...We drive all sorts of vehicles, not just pickup trucks.
2) Cowboys are everywhere and we all wear cowboy boots - FALSE...Yes, we have some real cowboys here and some people wear cowboy boots, but that's about it.
3) We only listen to country music here - FALSE...We like ALL kinds of music here and have a wide range of music choices to pick from here in the Sooner State.
4) Tornadoes are an everyday occurrence here - FALSE...Yes, it's true we have tornadoes here on occasion in the Spring---but some years not at all.
5) Oklahoma is a flat wasteland - FALSE...From Sahara-like sand dunes in northwest Oklahoma to beautiful mountains, forests, lakes and trout streams in southeast Oklahoma, the state has it all.
6) Oil and gas is the only industry we have to offer here - FALSE...While oil and gas plays a critical role in the state's economy, there are lots of other industries thriving here, including health care, aerospace, and a booming environment for high tech entrepreneurs and innovators.
7) We all live on ranches or farms, ride horses and raise cows, pigs and chickens - FALSE...Not even close. Yes we have these things but 94% of Oklahoma City's population, for example, is urban.
8) The only sport we know is college football - FALSE...Yes, college football is big here but so is the new kid on the block, the NBA's OKC Thunder.
9) We all sleep in teepees - FALSE...Uh....No. You can, however, sleep in a "luxury teepee" at the Orr Family Farm in OKC if you so desire (https://www.orrfamilyfarm.com).
10) We don't know how to speak proper English - FALSE (sort of)..."Okie" dialect is a real thing, say no more...
