How to Install a 12V Vent Fan in Your Van | DIY Roof Fan Install for Campervan Builds | Ford Transit Van Build #2

In this episode of my Ford Transit camper build, I walk you through the full step-by-step process of installing a 12V vent fan in the roof of your van. This is one of the most daunting jobs for first-time van builders — but with the right tools and a bit of guidance, it’s a job you can knock over in a day.

This is the third time I’ve installed a vent fan, and I’ve refined my method into something simple, repeatable, and cost-effective. I’ll show you how to measure and mark your hole, safely cut into your van roof, and properly seal the unit with butyl tape and heavy-duty adhesive to prevent leaks.

Whether you’re converting a Ford Transit, Sprinter, Promaster, or Hiace — this guide will help you confidently tackle one of the most critical parts of any DIY van build.
