My name is Xanthe.
I am an artist with a science degree (chemistry major, biology minor). I have been mistaken for being Italian, with my olive complexion.
In this video, I talked mainly about olive skintone. Giving some examples with using paint pigments to model the interaction of pigments.
My skintone is considered to be medium neutral olive. I suit slightly neutral to slightly warm colours best with a medium to deep value. Especially with makeup.
I don't deliberately tan but can develop a tan quite easily. Rarely burn. I can tan quite dark if in the sun a lot. I avoid the sun mostly, these days.
The olive in my complexion isn't really obvious all the time. More if compared with others, such as in a photo when others with different skintones are also in the pic.
Also, under certain lighting (such as fluorescent), my skin can look muted greenish.
In this video, I say where I think the olive comes from. Interaction of pigments and lighting, mainly. There is no blue pigment in skin or hair.
I observe olive skintones to be usually muted and neutral but may lean more warm or cool. Tend to fit more the Fitzpatrick Scale III and IV, between light and brown skin tones.
My skin is very influenced by light temperature.
