There’s something so satisfying about slamming a Level 6 Digimon and getting away with it. Those big, bold, potentially game-winning plays are what some people live for. In the Digimon TCG's first few sets, there was plenty of fodder for anyone looking to take a "go big or go home" play style.
This video essay charts the history of Mega Zoo, a loose archetype that featured powerful Level 6 Digimon from every colour, trait, and stat line possible, all unified under the goal of crushing the opponent under the weight of these behemoths.
Mega Zoo has had a particularly interesting story, going from an unintended but fiercely competitive strategy to a relic of much simpler times. And now, on the eve of BT13: Versus Royal Knights, the deck might just be making its comeback…
