Last week, during our offline pregnancy classes at Motherhood Hospital in Coimbatore, we had Pavithra, who was 39 weeks along. It was wonderful to see her comfortably perform all the exercises, especially the duck walks! She had a vaginal birth just a couple of days later.
Duck walks, a type of prenatal exercise, are sometimes recommended during pregnancy to help prepare the body for labor. This movement strengthens the pelvic muscles, hips, and thighs, which are important for supporting the growing uterus and can aid in the baby’s descent into the birth canal. Additionally, duck walks improve flexibility and mobility in the pelvic area, potentially leading to an easier delivery.
