Pinocchio Suite | from The Sound of Cinema

On February 27, 1941, Leigh Harline, Paul J. Smith and Ned Washington won the Academy Awards for Best Original Score and their landmark song "When You Wish Upon a Star", annointing Walt Disney's Pinocchio as the first animated feature film to ever receive a competitive Academy Award (and the first time both awards would be snatched by the same film).

The score and the songs are thoroughly interwoven, bleeding into each other and influencing each other. The same themes are featured both in the score and in the form of songs, most notably "When You Wish Upon a Star". This song is the main theme of the entire movie, despite only being sung twice (once at the opening and once at the very end) and has become one of the best known film songs of all time. It is now a Disney Icon, accompanying the Walt Disney Pictures Logo for now almost 40 years.

This suite is devoted mostly to When You Wish Upon a Star, both in song and score form, while also sprinkling a few other themes here and there!
