Man with Axe & Guns Threatens to 'Scalp' Neighbor | Pacific Beach | 20250428 (4K)

A family member called police about their 50 year old relative who was on their property acting strangely, and had threatened to scalp a neighbor as he held an axe and wore a ballistic vest. The man does not live at the residence and it is unclear why he was there.

The family member also told police that the man had written a will that day, and said he would die by gunfire.

A background check showed that "multiple guns" are registered to the man, and he is awaiting trial on a charge of misusing a gun in public.

As police brought in K9s, a helicopter did loudspeaker announcements asking the man to surrender and warning nearby neighbors. The man then barricaded the doors and windows.

Police used 2 rounds of pepper balls shot into a building on the property, and the man surrendered peacefully after approximately 3 hours.

Location: 600 block of Loring Street, Pacific Beach

Update: Police were called to the same residence about the same man at least 2 more times within a few days of this incident.

Remember folks, all suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
