2022 XC - CIF-ss Prelims - 26 (Div 2, Boys, Heat 1, Full Race)

This is Race 26, heat #1 (of 3 heats) of the Division 2 Boys from the 2022 Southern Section CIF Cross Country Prelims meet. Held on November 12 at Mt. SAC (Mt. San Antonio College) in Walnut, CA. The course is 2.93 miles. The meet determines the teams and individuals that will compete in Finals the following weekend. Teams are placed into divisions based on enrollment, with D2 being larger schools.

Yes, it is only Prelims. But we had a great time editing this. It is just a fun race to watch with all the great athletes putting in a hard workout. Aaron took this day off and it may have paid off for the national Champ later on when he had a few extra kilowatts left in his legs at the end of the biggest race of his life. Mt. SAC can wear you down even if you are in peak condition. The Youngs charged through this course twice in the course of a week and followed those two races with a 1-2 finish at State the following week. You have to wonder how much they had left in the tank at the end of the season. In this Prelims race, they are fully charged and it looks like it. And we get to see the former Floridian Brayden Seymour on this course for the first time. Including Cantu and Sahlman, the top 5 for Newbury are all seniors. And in this Prelims heat, the top 10 finishers are all seniors. We will miss them all.
