Jumma Khan, from the Alwar district in Rajasthan, is one of the most distinguished folk poets of India. He belongs to a community of storytellers known as Jogis and has a unique improv nature of communicating with his audiences, weaving folk music with mythological stories, history, and contemporary subjects such as technology to dowry deaths, and female foeticide. He has appeared at major festivals including Jaipur Literature Festival and iTunes festival in the UK. He is accompanied by his band of Mewari musicians playing the dholak, chimta, and bhapang.
