Minimalist Small Kitchen Declutter: Daily Use After Trauma & Avoidance | Vlogmas 2025 Day 14

Join me for Vlogmas 2025 Day 14 in this marathon kitchen declutter—over an hour of real-time muttering, satisfying time lapses, and a musical crescendo at the end that’ll hopefully have you cheering! 😆 I drew “kitchen cabinets & drawers” from my fishbowl challenge (part of my 12 Days of Decluttering series), but I went all in: clearing every countertop, organizing cupboards and drawers, and aiming for as little stuff as possible overall.

After the traumatic “rat fiasco” earlier this year (we had to evacuate, empty everything, sterilize, and I threw away SO much), my kitchen was already down to bare bones. The PTSD made it hard to even step in there, but knowing it’s finally sanitary and rat-free gave me the push to fully reclaim it. I unpacked the last lingering box, moved items back in mindfully, and optimized the small space once and for all—with the help of my new IKEA Billy bookcases in the adjacent dining area for extra daily and back-stock storage.

The result? Clear counters, neatly organized drawers/cupboards, and a peaceful, minimalist kitchen I can actually use and enjoy again. If you’ve ever avoided a space because of past trauma, this one’s for you—realistic, a little bit manic, and deeply satisfying.
