The Ugly Truth About Client Work (w/ a Tiny Art Director)

What happens when your client is a ruthless CEO… who also happens to be a kid? In this video, I take you through the entire chaotic process of designing a sticker for The Birdies Club—a startup dedicated to helping birds (and definitely not squirrels).

From the big “creative brief” meeting, to me trying to draw woodpeckers, cardinals, and chickadees without upsetting a small but demanding art director, to the inevitable battle over whether or not a bird feeder really belongs in the design… it’s all here.

Along the way you’ll see my sketches, how I simplify reference images into my loose cartoon style, and how I turned client feedback into a final sticker that actually works. Plus, I may have gone a little overboard and made some extra patterns and mockups just to survive the feedback loop.
