Located about 35 minutes from Sapporo Station by JR, Otaru is a charming port town where this stroll begins at Otaru Station.
Inside the station, you’ll find Tarche, a local specialty shop offering a wide selection of Hokkaido goods.
There’s also Isezushi Ekichūten, where you can enjoy sushi from a famous Otaru restaurant in a casual standing style.
Next to the station is the Sankaku Market, filled with fresh seafood, dried fish, and fruits from the Otaru area.
One of its highlights is that you can enjoy a meal right inside the market.
It’s a favorite spot not only among locals but also with tourists.
When you visit, don’t forget to bring a cooler bag!
