Chamfering tool is important not only for removing sharp edges, but also for preparing round bar for welding, where chamfer is essential for good strong weld. I usually use a tool with brazed carbide for this purpose. Well it is a sturdy tool, however it chipps easily and regrinding is a painful and time consuming experience. That is the main reason that stands behind this project. I simply need tool which allows for quick change of dulled edge instead of time consuming regrinding. I started with a block of steel and forged it gradually into a 28X28X150 mm blank. Than I rough grinded the scales and milled it into the final shape. I finished the project by milling clamp for clamping insert securely in the tool bed. The final touch was hot bluing and conservation with a linseed oil.
