Multiple Techs Failed to Diagnose this Mini Cooper — Here’s Why!

🚗 Mini Cooper No Communication Diagnostic | Scan Tool Won’t Connect (K-Line Issue)

In this video, we diagnose and fix a Mini Cooper that was completely stranded and impossible to communicate with. Multiple technicians attempted to scan the vehicle but no scan tool would connect, meaning no fault codes could be read at all.

This wasn’t a normal CAN-bus communication failure. Although this Mini Cooper does use CAN-bus for network communication, scan tool communication on this vehicle happens through the K-Line and that’s where things got interesting.

After tracking down the cause of the no-communication condition, I discovered a short to ground on the K-Line, which explained why every scanner failed. But even after identifying that fault there was still a hidden issue on the powertrain network that had to be resolved.
