Sympathetic nervous system is fight and flight, it supplies you with what you need to survive. The sympathetic nervous system (SNS or SANS) stimulates beta-adrenergic receptors in your heart (β1) and your bronchi (β2) to increase the heart rate and cause bronchodilation respectively.
The parasympathetic nervous system is the opposite: rest and digest. It stimulates muscarinic receptors such as the M3 receptors in your bronchi leading to increased secretion and bronchoconstriction. Beta agonists, Beta blockers. Alpha agonists, Alpha Blockers.
