WALKS IN DORSET at SWANAGE & DURLSTON HEAD (THE JURASSIC COAST) [4K]

This is another video in my series “ Walks in Dorset” accompanied by my Whippet (Logan). In this episode, I visit the town of Swanage which is located 5 miles to the South of Poole in Dorset.

I park my car at the Broad Road car park in the town and start my 4.5 mile circular walk with an exploration along the beach & sea front. After checking out the Prince Albert Memorial & Gardens, I head for the beach where there is another memorial – this time to a sea battle in AD 877!

Logan had some “Whippet Zoomies” on the sand before we headed Eastwards along the quay, which still has evidence of an old tramway that was used in the quarry industry. Passing the pier, we head along to the Wellington Clock Tower and the Lifeboat Station before climbing up on to Peveril Point where we enjoy some spectacular views over to Old Harry Rocks on the other side of the bay.

Our route then takes us South, through the Durlston Nature Reserve to Durlston Head where we get to explore the “castle” and magnificent “globe”. Continuing Westwards along the South Coast Path, we pass by the “Tilly Whim” quarry / caves and the “Dolphin Hut” to the lighthouse at Anvil Point.

Here we head North, through the Nature Reserve, and back to Swanage where we continue our exploration – looking at St Mary's church, the mill pond, the Town Hall & the “lock up”!

We finish back on the stone pier at Swanage where we get to eat our sausage & chips!
