An early morning walk to Toyosu Market in Tokyo's Koto Ward, the world's largest wholesale fish market since relocating from Tsukiji in 2018. This modern facility on reclaimed land in Tokyo Bay handles massive tuna and seafood auctions daily, drawing visitors eager to witness the high-stakes action. The route leads through quiet pre-dawn streets near Toyosu Station, past futuristic architecture and waterfront views, arriving at the Fisheries Wholesale Market Building around 5:30 AM. From the free upper-floor observation walkway (open to all, no reservation needed), we watch buyers inspect frozen tuna with flashlights before the lively auction begins around 5:30–6:30 AM—bids fly via hand signals and shouts for prized bluefin. This was a different walk from what we usually do. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
