TAGBILARAN CITY Walking Tour 🇵🇭 | Capital of Bohol & Gateway to Chocolate Hills UNESCO Geopark

Experience the peaceful morning atmosphere of Tagbilaran City, the vibrant capital of Bohol and the main gateway to the island! This 26-minute walking tour starts at 7:00 AM at the historic Plaza Jose Rizal, the city’s central plaza and a major site for public gatherings and celebrations.

Just across the plaza, we pass by the beautiful St. Joseph the Worker Cathedral Shrine, one of the oldest churches in Bohol and the main seat of the Diocese of Tagbilaran. Built in 1595, this landmark reflects the strong Spanish and Catholic heritage of the province.

From there, the walk continues along Carlos P. Garcia Avenue, one of the main roads of the city, named after Carlos P. Garcia, the only Boholano who became President of the Philippines. This avenue connects important business areas, schools, and transport routes.

Along the way, you’ll see two of the most important universities in the province—Bohol Island State University, the only state university in Bohol, and the University of Bohol, one of the oldest private universities in the city—making Tagbilaran the educational hub of the island.

This walking tour showcases not just the streets and landmarks, but also the daily life, culture, and slow morning rhythm of the Boholanos—from students heading to school to small stores opening for the day.

The walk concludes at the Tagbilaran City Port, where I officially end this morning city tour.
