Qatar Hosts Talks Between DR Congo & Rwanda, Also Meets M23 Rebels: Reports | Firstpost Africa | N18G

The second round of DRC-Rwanda talks was reportedly held in Qatar's capital, Doha, on Friday. The details are not out yet. Reports also say M23 representatives attended separate talks with Qatari officials, which did not include DRC and Rwanda representatives. These talks come after the first round of surprise talks held between DRC President Felix Tshisekedi and his Rwandan counterpart Paul Kagame this month. This was the first time the two leaders met since M23 rebels stepped up an offensive in eastern DRC in January. The two leaders called for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire. However, M23 distanced itself from these talks and continued its offensive with the capture of another strategic town in eastern DRC. Watch for more details.
