"Alitaptap" is a choral composition by renowned Filipino composer and conductor Josefino "Chino" Toledo. The piece sets to music a text by National Artist for Literature Rolando Tinio. The title, "Alitaptap", translates to "firefly" in Filipino, symbolizing themes of illumination and subtle beauty.
Composed for chorus and Filipino indigenous instruments, "Alitaptap" exemplifies Toledo's signature fusion of Western contemporary musical styles with Southeast Asian aesthetics. The composition is noted for its rhythmic vitality and evocative textures, reflecting Toledo's commitment to integrating traditional Filipino musical elements into modern choral works.
