Tired of poor signal or expensive antennas? In this video, I will show you how to build a working antenna for digital terrestrial television (DVB-T2) from literally junk. All you need is a piece of antenna cable and a regular TV splitter. No soldering irons or complicated calculations! At the end of the video, we'll do a mandatory test in real conditions: we'll count how many channels our homemade antenna can catch.
📌 In this video: (Timeline — optional)
0:00 — Introduction: the problem and a simple solution
0:45 — What we need (list of materials)
1:30 — Step-by-step antenna assembly
3:15 — Important details: the length of the “whiskers,” the angle, and the impedance
4:20 — Where and how to install the antenna correctly
5:00 — Connecting to the TV and starting the channel search
5:45 — RESULT: how many and which channels we caught!
6:15 — Tips for improving the signal
6:45 — Conclusions: is it worth it?
🛠 Required materials:
Standard TV cable (RG-6) — about 2-3 meters.
Splitter (splitter) with 2-3 outputs (F-connectors).
2-3 F-connectors (plugs) for the cable.
Knife or stripper for stripping the cable.
Ruler.
❗️ Important!
The effectiveness of the antenna greatly depends on the distance to the TV tower and obstacles. In a city with a strong signal, the result is excellent, but at a long distance, an amplifier may be needed.
This is a decimeter band (DMB) antenna specifically for digital terrestrial TV (RTRS-1 and RTRS-2 packages in Russia). It is not suitable for analog or satellite signals.
Experiment with the location and shape of the antenna (the angle between the “whiskers”).
💡 If the signal is weak, try:
Increasing the length of the antenna's “whiskers” (arms) to 50-55 cm.
Installing the antenna near a window or on the outside of a wall (even indoors).
Add a reflector made of foil or metal mesh to the design.
