We Transformed a Dream House in Gangu Village—Wait Until You See the Plastering Process! The plastering is just one part of the journey, but it is a crucial one—a reminder that dreams, no matter how long they take to build, are worth every step. #plastering #house #village #dream
Building a dream house isn’t just about bricks and cement; it’s about turning a vision into reality. My parents always dreamed of having a permanent house in Gangu Village— my ancestral land in Asembo Siaya County a peaceful, picturesque place where they could retire and enjoy their golden years. Their previous semi-permanent house caved-in on them several years ago. It has taken us many years praying and planing for their dream house in Gangu village.
From the start, it was a journey filled with passion and challenges. But the plastering phase? That was when everything truly came to life.
We started with a simple plan, but when we began plastering, the transformation was beyond anything we imagined. The smooth, clean finish brought out the beauty of the structure, making the house look like something out of a dream. Every room felt more spacious, the walls took on a new warmth, and the attention to detail was astounding. But there was a twist! Unexpected surprises during the plastering process—like hidden layers that revealed antique materials and textures—left us all in awe.
It wasn’t just about the physical labor; it was about preserving the spirit of the place, our family's history, and the dreams my parents had for years. The results were more than just a house—they were a symbol of love, legacy, and the beauty of hard work. I could see the happiness in my parents' eyes as they toured the house. They couldn’t believe it was finally happening.
This house design is a Cape Dutch-inspired house design rooted in the rich history and architectural tradition of South Africa, particularly the Cape Colony in the 17th and 18th centuries. The style blends elements of Dutch, French, and local African influences, creating a distinctive and timeless aesthetic.
While the traditional Cape Dutch style is deeply rooted in history, modern interpretations have emerged. These may include more contemporary finishes like steel or glass elements, but the signature gables, symmetry, and use of light-colored finishes remain central to the design.
A Cape Dutch-inspired house is a beautiful blend of heritage and elegance, creating a timeless and inviting space.
In the end, what started as a simple plastering job turned into a stunning realization of a dream—and a memory I’ll never forget.
