Freq Out Reborn is an FM synthesiser with a difference. With its six sine wave operator in series signal path, its limitations allow your creativity to be unleashed. Obsessive sonic-sculpting is not the name of the game here - the only way of controlling the frequencies and modulation amounts of the operators is by using the two multisliders, which deliberately make precision difficult. Generate random sounds with C0, "like" them when you hear something that resonates with you, and recall the settings with keys C1 and above. Allow the envelopes to be randomised, or if you prefer, activate the global amplitude envelope.

This demo should give you enough of an idea to start using the device, and hopefully it inspires you to throw open Ableton and glitch things up.

Some of you may have downloaded Freq Out. Whilst I was really happy with the concept, the device was a bit laggy due to its reliance on JavaScript, and the presets didn't save with the Live set.

Freq Out Reborn is more than just an update. As well as resolving the issues of not being able to restore your "liked" setttings upon restarting your set, and speeding up the MIDI response time, as the logic and signal processing is handled in gen~, this device allows you to play multiple "liked" settings at once, enabling you to use this device as an FM drum machine without having to commit anything to audio.
