WHAT DO YOU THINK? PLEASE COMMENT! :)
today we're discussing a hot topic: why do white queer people mimic and sometimes appropriate black culture? what could explain this?
we touch on important topics like appropriation vs appreciation, the influence of black trans women in NYC ballroom culture, the importance of credit, black masculinity, black femininity, white privilege, and more.
I'll reference a few important cultural examples like Billie Ellish, Madonna's Vogue, Paris is Burning, Pose, Moonlight, etc.
I share my personal perspective as a white lesbian, but would love to hear from other people as well.
