Lonestar, Amazed. 1999 ACM Awards. Dolly Parton Hosting

The ACM's were always a blast to play because they were in L.A. I loved that because there were always great before and after parties at this show. The CMAs were in Nashville, so we basically drove to the awards from our homes, then went home after the awards show.. This particular year we went to the pre ACM party, which was hosted in the penthouse suite of the hotel the night before the ACMs. Of course the suite had a nice grand piano, so Richie, Kurt and I started jamming a little bit, and next thing you know Mark Chesnutt joins in and starts singing the Mundo Earwood song, "You're In Love With The Wrong Man." Man we had a blast that night!

The next day was all business getting ready for the show. I will never forget that after we played our part of the show Kurt Baumer (fiddle), Rob Cheuvront (Bass) and I went to the backstage green room to grab a drink and decompress. Hank Jr. was also in the green room, walked up to us, took off is sunglasses and told us, "now boys, you guys are great!" I was floored! That was freaking HANK JR! Wow!
