The Dragon Boat Festival (端午節) is one of the most important traditional holidays in the Chinese-speaking world. Held on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month, it’s a day of racing, rice dumplings (粽子), and honoring ancient customs.

In this video, I’ll share my firsthand experience racing in a traditional Chinese dragon boat, and dive into the history of the Dragon Boat Festival in Taiwan and China.

We’ll explore the origins of the festival, the legend of Qu Yuan, and the cultural traditions that have been passed down for centuries — including the iconic zongzi (sticky rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves), festival rituals, and more.
