The Ramon Mumbru was built in 1873 by the Gilbert and Cooper shipyards. The ship was first named Elguezabal, then Ballesreros II, then Derwent and finally Ramon Mumbru! The ship is 80 meters long and 11 meters wide and had a new feature for this period as it was built with 5 watertight bulkheads. She sank at the beginning of June 1921 following an explosion. The wreck is located near the entrance to the port of Cavalaire on the south coast of France. It is lying on its starboard side, on a bottom of sand and mud, at a depth of 22 metres. A layer of sediment covers the wreck, which is a veritable tangle of sheet metal but a piece of the hull is still recognisable. There are no remaining engines, propellers or superstructure.
