Jouzu's awesome comment
just watched your video
l split my comments into 2 sections, first about the actual japanese stuff, and second about the video itself:
Japanese stuff
I like your usage of the + - x ÷ & signs to parallel to what Kanji are like
I see you referenced Dolly's video on tenten hooking. Something to note about that is that it's actually called Rendaku and is quite unpredictable. Personally, especially after going through Dogen's course too, I think Rendaku is not worth looking into, as in, it's not worth explaining why something is or is not rendaku-ed.
The sound sisters thing is a very Dolly styled explanation and I think it's fine. I personally do it differently but I don't see a problem with it.
When it comes to knowing the periods of Chinese where the Japanese word comes from-- I think it's a little bit backwards. Like I don't know a single person who knows that 過去 is a Buddhist term.
Personally I think that way of explaining might be a bit more confusing than worth- because now people are gonna have to look for what Chinese era a kanji is from and try to remember it that way, which is just extra effort than remembering what a thing sounds like.
The thing with mnenomics is great I think. But as someone who has a little bit of Chinese background, and knowing Chinese/Japanese natives, I know a secret that they do that isn't mnemonics.
General idea that stroke order isn't needed I agree mostly (But it's not needed for JLPT or kanken).
Personally I would put a big caveat on the actual rules of stroke order:
1. Not everything follows the top down, left to right rule (particularly if you analyze kanji shapes & structure)
2. China, HK, Taiwan, Japan all have different stroke order for certain words. Yet the end result is the same." And " The video itself
First thing that stood out to me is you saying "let's begin" 3 minutes into the video -- it makes it sound like the previous 3 minutes were not important as you haven't started yet.
That's a super important thing about YouTube, start the video fast.
When it comes to your presentation, I'm not sure about the mask. Me personally, I have no problem with it, but I know that psychologically speaking, it kinda doesn't allow the viewer to connect as much.
Something else you could do is reposition your camera a bit so you're either more in the middle, or on one side of the screen. There's also a lot of wasted head space above your head. You can also move the camera back more and zoom in instead so that the background can have more depth blur.
I like your music choice, and it's not too loud or distracting. Also lol you found where I get my broll off pexels lmao. I actually changed broll sites, but am using a paid one now. Your cut ins with Broll is also pretty good!
I dropped a like as I can see the effort you put into the research for this! 💪
