After months of planning, wrench-turning, and a whole lot of suspense, the moment is finally here… we’re revealing a massive upgrade for 23U, our beloved Cessna 172 flight school airplane that so many of you know and love. ✈️

This isn’t just about replacing an engine — it’s about bringing new life to an iconic aircraft, upgrading it with modern technology to keep it flying safely for years to come. In today’s video, I’ll take you behind the scenes to share this next chapter for 23U, the decisions that led us here, and the incredible people who made it possible.

When our old Continental O-300 engine failed, we faced a tough choice: stick with outdated technology, go with a small horsepower bump like an O-320, or find something truly future-proof. That’s when Dave Stoots of Stoots Aviation came into the picture with a groundbreaking IO-370, 180 HP, fuel-injected, fixed-pitch engine — a perfect match for a hardworking flight school plane.

This upgrade means more reliability, safety, and performance for training pilots here in Alaska. It’s a huge step forward for both our flight training operations and the Angle of Attack community.
