On April 16, 2025, OI LIVE broadcast a meeting talking about No Calls - nothing to see here. Joshua Schroeder, OI chairman of the board, showed a variety of plays that either had a no call originally or was suggested to have had a no call instead of a foul or violation that was called. Most videos were agreed upon, but some had a lively discussion about whether or not the whistle should have been blown.
OI LIVE meetings are conducted the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm with the intent to provide instruction for basketball officials, and assist in helping everyone get better. Watching and discussing videos in a group brings better awareness in how to apply the rules of basketball in real game situations and provides a fun and supportive environment for officials to ask questions and share philosophies by fellow officials. Asking questions while analyzing video is a valuable learning tool and by giving repetitive looks at the same play increases retention of rules and philosophies of rules. All videos shown are actual high school basketball videos and revolve around the topic of No Calls.
The video of this online meeting includes 11 video clips and a BONUS PLAY.

Watching video clips is a good way to stay connected to the skill of officiating basketball but education and learning can more effectively be attained doing it in a group with some direction from a key speaker. Remembering specific rules and application of those rules is easier when visual aids are used to present in a way that is easy to listen to and understand.
The Officials Institute, and their monthly video review meetings, create a fun environment that allows participants to speak up and voice their opinions on plays without negative retribution or rebuttals. Everyone's opinion is worth something and adds to the overall learning experience that everyone should strive for, regardless of years of experience. Breaking down film in slow motion and freeze frames helps to "retrain our brain" so when we see the same plays in real time we are in a better position mentally to get the call right.
