RULES:
Pick a mode to play. Connect your chess.com account to play against other people online. The board will light up your opponent’s moves as well as show you where your pieces can move. The board can handle online games autonomously, so you don’t need a connected smart device.

In two player and Bot mode, while connected to wifi, you have the option to use the smart assist. Set the level of assistance you want, then, as you play, the spaces on the board will light up various colors to help improve your game or help reduce the skill disparity between two players of different levels. The color indicators change based on the chosen level of assist. You can also use the Chess Up companion app to setup games and provide live analysis of your game as you play.

Each piece type, for each color, is uniquely identified on the board. The board Editor allows you to arrange the pieces into any configuration you want and then play from that configuration. In the app, you can access a history of your games played. This allows you to revisit a game, see its statistics, perform a deep analysis, or use simply use it as a guide to recreate a specific setup so you practice or try out different decisions. The app also has a vast array of tutorials you can interact with, allowing you to setup the pieces on the board and walk through each step as the lesson is explained, staying at your pace and giving you a hands on tactile control.
