Out of the 5 universities that I applied to, Durham was the last one that I needed to visit and get a feel of. I think visiting every single uni has been so beneficial in my decision-making - I really recommend it, where possible.
I started the day off by visiting some of the Hill colleges, as I really value diversity (and all the horror stories I've heard have steered me away from the Bailey colleges completely) but also hope to have a self-catered accommodation which limited my options a tiny bit. Usually this wouldn't be too much of a concern, but as I'm vegetarian it makes more sense to take the self-catered route!
Then I visited the main library of Durham University as well as the Students' Union which were pretty standard I would say. The capacity of Bill Bryson library was really impressive though.
By this time, I was running about an hour behind the schedule which I had planned so I rushed over to the business school to make it to my course taster in time. This was super helpful as I got detailed insight into the modules of the 'Marketing & Management' course and also took part in a taster seminar of the course. This involved group work with the other people who had applied for the course, and it wasn't nearly as awkward as I expected it to be which was really reassuring.
Seeing the city centre and all the historic architecture was so nice and gave me really good vibes, but the biggest concern for me is the weather as it can get quite wet and icy in Durham. I've got loadsss to think about now
But yeah, that was pretty much it! I hope this was somewhat helpful and/or entertaining :)
See you next week!
