Having grown up half middle eastern with white skin, I've had some interesting experiences. I've had the privilege of being white my whole life, and the ability to hide the part of my ethnicity that faces frequent discrimination. I have the choice of remaining safe around those with prejudice, allowing me to overhear their worst thoughts.

There are people who believe I shouldn't claim that being Iranian is part of my racial identity, largely because I have white privilege and grew up in the west - and they do so without knowing the extent of my cultural exposure.

Being biracial or mixed race is complicated though, regardless of your skin colour, and for people who are, it can result in a life of complicated emotions, and constantly battling with your identity. I want to talk about this, along with some of my experiences.
