🛒 Ingredients List
For the Fish:
🔸6-8 Large Fresh Bombil (Bombay Duck) - Cleaned and deboned (butterflied)
🔸1 tbsp Lemon Juice
🔸½ tsp Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
🔸Salt to taste
For the Green Stuffing (Chutney):
🔸1 cup Fresh Coriander leaves
🔸3-4 Green Chilies (adjust to spice preference)
🔸Garlic Ginger paste
🔸1 tbsp Lemon Juice
🔸1 tbsp Grated Coconut
🔸Salt to taste
For the Crispy Coating:
🔸1 cup bread crumbs
🔸2 eggs
🔸½ tsp black papper Powder
🔸Oil for shallow frying
👨🍳 How to Make (Step-by-Step)
1. Prep the Bombil (Crucial Step!):
Wash the Bombil thoroughly. Slit them open flat (butterfly style) and remove the central bone carefully (it pulls out easily).
Apply salt, turmeric, and lemon juice to the fish.
2. Make the Stuffing:
In a mixer grinder, blend the coriander, green chilies, garlic, ginger, coconut, lemon juice and salt.
Grind to a thick, dry paste. Do not add water (a wet paste will make the fish break).
3. Stuff and Roll:
Take a flattened Bombil fillet.
Spread a layer of the green chutney on the inside surface. roll the single fillet tightly into a cylindrical shape.
4. Coat:
Take bread crumbs on a flat plate. and eggs in a bowl add black pepper powder in eggs and whisk. Gently roll the stuffed fish in the egg and then in bread crumbs, pressing slightly so the coating sticks well to all sides.
5. Fry to Perfection:
Heat oil in a pan for shallow frying on medium heat. Place the stuffed Bombil in the pan. Do not overcrowd. Fry on medium heat until golden brown and crispy on all sides. Flip gently using tongs.
Serve hot with a slice of lemon and onion rings!
