This is my second track day at Castle Combe with the i5N on the 25th October, following the Great Western Sprint organised by Bristol Motor Club, where I finished 2nd in class, despite being on road tyres (not track tyres) and up against the top road legal (but mostly modified) ICE cars.
I wanted the opportunity to try a few more set ups, mostly testing normal, sport and sport+ suspension settings.
I had a passenger for most of the runs. Yazmine, the sales person at my local Hyundai dealer who sold me the car had come along to take some photos, jumped at the chance of sitting in, and proved to be an enthusiastic passenger!
The day started pretty wet, and the car proved to have surprisingly good grip under those conditions. However, by the end of the day the sun was out, and the track dried up quite nicely.
On the final session I was able to set a faster time then the last track day despite lifting off to let another car go by. The optimal time calculated by the Garmin timing device suggests I could get down to 1:17.5 on the standard P Zero road tyres. That's within a second or so of my best ever lap in the 2024 Tesla Model 3 Performance that was set on Nankang track tyres!
New wheels and tyres on order for the i5N (Yoko AO52 on 20"x10.5" forged wheels), and I can't wait - although I will have to, until next season...
