Quite how the gang resolved Freddie's lie is a mystery. It's a shame since it's the only form of team conflict in this film; it would have been more interesting to see more moments like that. Because of its over-complicatedness, unknown conclusion and general fear that kids would no longer LIKE Freddie, the American producers cut that subplot out of the film.
The haggis "joke"...this is one of the only bits the Americans rightly cut out of the film. It's not funny, slows the action down and it simply doesn't work.
