Covering the Folio Society Style Slipcase // Adventures in Bookbinding

In this video I demonstrate covering a slipcase in the style of Folio Society books. Folio Society slipcases are usually constructed using a folding technique, which I don't use in the video. I believe the hand bookbinder's technique of using individual pieces is easier and strong, but takes longer.

Any PVA designed to be used with paper can be used as the adhesive for applying headbands. I use a special EVA called Evasol, which is rated for conservation grade work, which is overkill for most people, including me.

The covering materials is old stock I got from a bookbinder closing down. It may be Wablin with buckram finish. Wablin is a coloured paper which comes in different finishes, some designed to look like cloth. If it isn't Wablin, it is something very similar.
