Super P Bass Quarantine Project

Had nothing better to do, so i modified my Squire Affinity Pj Bass.

The parts I used include:
Dimarzio Model one DP120bk
Dimarzio P DP122
Bartolini M44cbc-t

6 way 4 pole (6 input 4 output) switch
2 cts potentiometers

2 on on on switches (didn't end up using)
1 on on switch (didn't end up using)


While i was working on this project i wasn't able to get the 3 way switches to work with the mudbucker and the Bartolini. The neck was louder in the middle position than the others and that didn't make sense to me because the middle was supposed to be that pickup in single coil. And the Bartolini didn't make any sound on the parallel side of the switch. I guess i just got restless and tore them out and wired everything in series which worked pretty well i think.

If you couldn't tell in the beginning i am using D'addario flat wounds, and after i am using round-wounds. Im not sure what the round-wounds are as they are the strings that came with the bass when i first got it. The pickguard is also not stock. usually those PJ basses come with a black pickguard but i didn't care for it that much and swapped it out for a more interesting one.

People have asked if i would make a wiring diagram for this bass but honestly I think if you're interested in making one of these yourself then just buy the parts and figure it out for yourself. I looked online for diagrams of the switch and figured out how to use it and then its just a regular p bass after that with a hot and a ground wire after that.

All in all this turned out to be a great and versatile instrument that I now use all the time. It has some flaws like grounding issues, the woofer pickup being insecurely fastened and the output jack tends to get loose often.

My plan next is to try and find someone to make me a 5 string version of this with more quality materials... eventually lol
