In this video, I travel to Hastings seafront to uncover the remarkable true story of SM U-118, the German U-boat that washed ashore in 1919 and became an instant seaside spectacle.
Stranded just metres from the Queen’s Hotel, this WWI submarine drew massive crowds, sparked local legends—and left behind a tragic legacy. As part of the investigation, I stand on the very spot where the submarine beached and recreate historical photos taken during the incredible days that followed.
I also tell the unfortunate tragedy behind this unique event back over 100 years ago.
