In this tutorial I'll share my tips and techniques for drawing wet fur and blurred backgrounds whilst working on this Springer Spaniel drawing. There are a few things to consider when drawing wet fur but the most crucial aspect is contrast. How to draw the fur in this way requires specific pencil strokes and layering. The ability to layer light over dark and dark over light depending on the effect we are trying to create makes pastels a very versatile and forgiving medium to work with.
