Volvo loaned us this adorable all new EX30 and it’s a treat to drive! I’ve been waiting to review the EX30 since we saw it live in NYC just 2 years ago, now it’s here…so how was it? From an abundance of power, to clever usages of recycled materials, fun colors, and a more capable Cross Country variant to come, this tiny premium EV SUV serves as the first iteration of a potential Volvo classic and echos the C40s unique character.

So, how was it?

This little guy is RAPID, and has quite good day to day handling, even quick steering.
The suspension is wonderfully composed on all pavement, a true premium feature.
We love the quirky design, fun colors, and use of recycled material.

-The interior is well styled though a bit too bare bones for us.
-The EX90’s gauge display would be very welcome here.
-It’s a smaller vehicle, and that shows with cargo room.

ACNCarScore: 8/10 - The EX30 Performance AWD is a true sleeper, and one that makes awesome use of sustainable materials, handles itself well, and is unmistakably Volvo. Its interior may have a steep learning curve, and it may be a bit small for $48k, as tested, but it’s one of the most refreshing new EVs this year.
