** LINEAR & AERIAL PERSPECTIVE **
Perspective simply means point of view.
You need not learn the theory about perspective if you can draw and paint what you see rather than what you know.
This seeing can be improved when we know what to see carefully in each object.
Linear Perspective
Linear perspective tells us how the straight edges of human made objects behave when we see them from different points of view.
For example, see how the edges of a cuboid change angles as we see it from different angles. This is how 1, 2 and 3 point perspective affects how an object appears to us. This is called linear perspective.
Aerial Perspective
Similarly, any mountain seems to be far away only if you paint it with light bluish color and with fuzzy edges. This is called aerial perspective.
If you represent, the object's
1. color
2. angles it's edges make and
3. the sharpness of these edges
correctly in your drawings or paintings, you create the illusion of depth on a 2 dimensional surface of paper.
Now I want to know your perspective on this topic. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
Happy Painting!
