"Aya araathime" by Kwame Rĩgĩi captures the soul that guides us, and creating the distinction between Mũgĩkũyũ (one steeped in the traditions of our community) and Mũgĩkũyũ mũteti (one who is Gĩkũyũ by name and word only).

We learn. Every day we learn something new. This song is a voyage, a departure, a dedication to the glue that must unite us.

There is beauty in our culture, in embracing who we are. The story must change. Being Gĩkũyũ means being a person of honour, a person of character, a people that embrace kindness, hard work. Being trustworthy; these are pillars that for years defined our people.

The narrative has spiralled out, and now we find our selves at crossroads.

Do we continue burning our house? No!

Our children's future depends on us.

It is about love, about brotherhood.
