Element TrailWalker Portal Plus - Trail Ride Review

In the beginning I was discouraged by the quality.. A truck i truly anticipated to get my hands on ruined through default of a machine.. Where design and engineered did not meet in harmony but rather a small flaw..

HOW IT HANDLES..
Though it suffers from terrible approach and departure angles.. It is not a " rock crawler " , they named this vehicle perfectly.. the Trail Walker ! Slow and steady wins.. some races if you dont get penalties for backing up. The TrailWalker crawls great for a trail truck. Especially a rather more scale vehicle as it has full width front bumper, a faux " scale " rear tire cover, and ooh yah no rear bumper 🤦‍♂️... why.. Please Element why.. So close to being a complete package.. Surprisingly it side hills very well for being a toaster on wheels.. Scratched wheels.. I digress... It does drag the Spare tire cover on everything steep.. Descends very well with weight distributed carefully throughout the chassis. Mostly do to running a shorty Lipo pack mounted to the front of the chassis. The stock electronics are alright for a stock setup. Slow crawls decently, Water Resistant! That 2 in 1 will get grumpy if submerged.. Servo felt fine, for now..

The Element TrailWalker Portal Plus is a great platform to build off of.. The needs are many, but not to say Cons. But Rather over all improvements not given from factory.. The transmission is great, the axles are as good as their non portal counterpart. Factory rock sliders are a plus. Stinger front bumper with winch provisions are good but becoming a standard throughout the hobby. The TrailWalker needs better wheels and tires just like any rtr. It also needs more weight, its a very light rig out of the box. I bought this truck because I love the look and styling. I bought this truck because its 4ws with 4 parts.. I also bought this truck because it was on 40% OFF.. That being said I dont know if I can recommend this to anyone for the full list price.. It is a bit too steep for what you are getting out of the box.. especially coming pre-damaged out of the box.. The only saving grace is that its cool looking and ready for 4ws..
