Is this a familiar scenario: Your family or friends want to go on a standard all-inclusive vacation, but you dread the thought of burning up vacation days and spending thousands of dollars to go on a trip that doesn't involve surfing? Well this video series is intended for you! I did a video previously on Punta Mita, Mexico, and this time, we are covering Cabarete / Sosua in the Dominican Republic, both of which provide easy access to the ubiquitous surf of Playa Encuentro. Not only that, but there is a brand new surfskate training facility next to the beach called Parallel Surf, a ton of surf schools, cheap food and drinks, and friendly welcoming people.
I went in, not sure what to expect, but I loved Playa Encuentro and would return in a heartbeat! Most importantly, I planned this trip so I could surf, but my family also loved their time here. Finding places that are affordable and which offer attractions to non-surfers while being close to surf breaks is what I love to do and share.
